System Requirements
Real-Link is a cloud-based platform. There is no software to install on your own servers. The requirements are minimal: an Android device with NFC for the mobile app, and any modern browser for the web portal.
Mobile devices (field team)
Real-Link runs on NFC-enabled Android devices. The devices are supplied by Real-Link, pre-loaded with the app and configured to your operation before delivery.
- Operating system: Android 8.0 or higher
- NFC capability: required and enabled
- Connectivity: mobile data (4G or 5G) or Wi-Fi for real-time transmission
- Mobile Device Camera: required for photo capture on forms and clock-in
You can use existing Android phones if they have NFC capability enabled. However, Real-Link-supplied devices are pre-configured, tested for NFC reliability and covered by hardware support. Personal devices introduce variability and are more likely to cause issues in the field.
iOS is not currently supported. Apple restricts background NFC tag reading on iPhone. This may change in future iOS updates. All devices supplied by Real-Link are Android.
Web portal (supervisors and managers)
- Any modern browser: Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari
- Works on laptop, desktop, tablet or smartphone
- No software installation required
- Internet connection required for live data
Connectivity
Real-Link transmits data in real time when a mobile or Wi-Fi connection is available. If the device loses signal, it stores data locally and syncs automatically the moment connectivity is restored with the timestamp of both when the data was captured and when it was transmitted to our portal. No records are lost due to signal gaps.
This offline mode is particularly useful for underground car parks and rural or remote sites.
